Monthly Story Event

Once each month, residents, families, and staff are invited to gather for a Story Circle centered around connection through storytelling.

Together, we share memories, reflections, experiences, humor, and meaningful moments in a relaxed and welcoming space.

Each gathering begins with introductions and simple sharing, followed by a mix of group conversation, storytelling prompts, paired exercises, and reflective activities that may evolve over time.

This is not about performance or being perfect.
It is about connection, listening, and getting to know one another more deeply through our stories.

Because every story shared helps strengthen the sense of community between us.

The Scribe Is In

About the Scribe

Jennifer Mark is the founder of Voices That Matter, a storytelling and legacy project rooted in the belief that listening itself can be an act of care, connection, and remembrance.

With decades of experience working closely with people through healthcare, community support, and deep relational listening, Jennifer creates spaces where individuals are invited to share their stories in a way that feels natural, meaningful, and human.

Through Story Circles and one on one Scribe conversations, stories are shaped collaboratively and written in a first person narrative style so they feel as though the storyteller is speaking directly to you in their own voice.

This work is not about creating perfect stories.
It is about honoring the essence of a person’s lived experience.

At the heart of Voices That Matter is a simple belief:

When people feel truly heard, connection deepens and community grows.

Through listening to one another’s stories, we begin to discover not only the uniqueness of each life, but also the shared experiences that connect us all.

Because every voice carries something worth remembering.

Personal & Family Legacy Projects

Residents and families are also invited to explore more personal storytelling and legacy projects created collaboratively with the Scribe.

These projects may include:

  • personal life story collections
  • family legacy books
  • stories for children and grandchildren
  • memorial or tribute projects
  • milestone and anniversary reflections
  • collections of memories and photographs

Through one on one conversations, stories are shaped gently over time in a way that feels meaningful, natural, and true to the storyteller’s voice.

These are not formal autobiography projects, but relational storytelling experiences rooted in listening, memory, reflection, and connection.

Personal and Family Legacy Projects are arranged privately between the resident, family, and the Scribe and are separate from Atria programming and services. Project scope, format, and cost are discussed individually based on the wishes and needs of each family.

Because every family carries stories worth remembering.
