Stories from Atria Cuttermill

Welcome to the Voices That Matter story archive at Atria Cuttermill.

This private collection gathers the stories, memories, reflections, wisdom, humor, and lived experiences shared by residents, families, and staff throughout our Story Circles and one on one Scribe conversations.

Each story is written collaboratively in a first person narrative style so the storyteller’s voice, personality, and essence can be felt as though they are speaking directly to you.

These are not formal biographies or perfect retellings of a life.
They are human stories.

Stories about love, family, resilience, work, friendship, loss, joy, memory, growth, and the moments that quietly shape who we become.

Over time, this archive becomes more than a collection of stories.
It becomes a living reflection of the community itself.

Through listening to one another’s experiences, we begin to discover both the uniqueness of each life and the shared humanity that connects us all.

Thank you for being part of this growing community of stories.

Because every voice carries something worth remembering.

April Featured Story

Maxine, 89

On Blindness, Ambition, and Becoming Herself

In our first featured Voices That Matter story, Maxine reflects on a life shaped by resilience, independence, humor, and determination.

Through memories of navigating blindness, pursuing meaningful work, and continuing to meet life with strength and honesty, Maxine reminds us that a person is never defined by one challenge alone, but by the fullness of who they are.

Reflection Quote

“Sometimes hearing another person’s story reminds us of parts of ourselves we had forgotten.

Through sharing our stories, we begin to discover that connection often lives in the places where our lives quietly meet.”
