Voices from the Shalom Community

For fifty years, Shalom Mountain has been a place where people come to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most.

Some arrive searching for clarity.
Some arrive carrying questions.
Some arrive simply following a quiet intuition that something meaningful might unfold here.

Over time, Shalom has become more than a place on a mountain.
It has become a community of shared experiences, transformations, friendships, and memories.

The Shalom Mountain Stories Project is an invitation to capture those memories.

50 Years of Stories

Anyone who has been to Shalom knows that Friday morning is about stories.

One by one, people sit at the center of the group and share.
Depending on the size of the retreat, each person has a few minutes to tell a piece of their story.

It is one of the most meaningful traditions at Shalom.

For me, Shalom has been at the heart of my own work for the past fifteen years.

The power of story.

How it shapes us in the telling, the not telling, the silence, and the speaking.

Storytelling is woven deeply into the life of this mountain.

Over the last fifty years, Shalom has held thousands of moments of honesty, courage, laughter,

heartbreak, insight, and transformation.

A living field of story.

Gathering these stories is my way of giving something back to a place that has given so much.

If I had never found Shalom, I may never have had the opportunity to tell my own story again and again,

and over time, to watch it change.

Shalom has been a place of finding, facing, and learning to love myself and others.

This project is an invitation.

To share your Shalom story.

Share Your Story

If Shalom Mountain has been part of your life, you are warmly invited to share your story.

Story conversations take place on Zoom and last about 30 to 45 minutes.
You’re welcome to share a photo to accompany your story.

Participation is open to anyone who has been touched by Shalom.
There is no cost to participate.

The unfolding of Shalom Stories and the broader living archive through

Voices That Matter is sustained through support.

You’re welcome to contribute financially to help this work continue.

A Living Story

Shalom has always been a place where stories are spoken, heard, and held.

This project is a continuation of that.

Some stories will be shared here.
Some will be carried within families.
Some will simply live in the telling.

All of them matter.

Thank you for being part of the story of Shalom.

Shalom is made of moments of Love.

Many spoken, many carried, many remembered in ways words can’t fully hold.

This project exists to listen, gather, and preserve what has lived here over time.

Because what has been shared here matters.
